Hoo haa on National Day song...

First i state my stand.. i'm no supporter of karia nor other singaporean singers... No. 2 the case : Mass discrimination on Karia being the National Day song singer for this year 2006... Check out TNP 26 Jul (wed) 2006 pg 20-21 : Report includes comments from sgforums and i quote "She is not even famous... looks like now anhy ah neow ah kow also can perform at NDP"

NO. 1 - SHE IS NO AH NEOW AH KOW... try saying tat abt her fellow record mates and ur nose is touching e dirt ur currently standing on... just becuz she is not known here doesn't mean she's not a hit elsewhere (eg Taiwan)...

another one from Lianhe Zaobao and I Weekly and i quote "We were like 'Who's his girl doing the National Day song? Is she a local singer?' Maybe they're trying to promote her... but she hasn't had much exposure"

NO. 2 - U wan to tok abt exposure... look at taufik... i wun call tat much exposure either but he was up there at the icing of the cake wif rui en last year... promoting singers? please... if u see the national day parade as national day gala nite... god bless singapore

same source and i quote "It should at least be a singapore household name"

NO. 3 - look how do u determine a household name? Zoe Tay? Felicia Chin? Abigail? Annabel chong? i'm sure we wld all love zoe tay to be up there... y not she's almost like a symbol for singapore entertainment... and so y not? becuz first and foremost the SONGS dun suit her... call it blind man's luck or wad... Kaira's voice fits the song... i'm sure all have heard it on radio and u were like hey sounds nice and tat's our national day song... until u heard who is e singer... den u go huh who is tat... where in the timbatu did she come from?

Ken Lim and i quote "Whoever sings the NDP song must be recognised by the people. Tat is basic since ur singing for the perople, to the people. If ur not recognisable, how are they going to relate to u"

NO. 4 - true to an extent but wait are we commemorating our country's independance at the parade or the person singing the song... think twice my friend for u have shown injustice to urself by saying u have NOT HEARD of Karia... as one of the judges in our nation's very own talent search for young talents out there in the population of 4 million... u said u DID NOT HEARD of a singaporean young girl who have already did reasonably well in Taiwan... speaks enough

so wad's my conclusion... give tat poor young girl a chance... instead of giving mal comments on somebody else shld be up there doing your job, y not encourage her and trust her to rise to the occasion... of course it's no small occasion to start wif... it's our national day parade... read parade not g.......
